Climbing in China

Climbing in China is very safe and often we have the help and support of locals in remote areas for assistance, transport, porterage, and rescue services.

Insurance is covered in the climb cost although it does not include mountain rescue if by helicopter or other means - as in most cases with big expeditions, they are in remote locations. If we travel to remote locations, we always have satellite communications on hand. 

Lead Climb is th only mountain company that provides full English speaking giudes and information whilst climbing and operating on the mountains in China.

We aim to have a diverse cook on site that can cater to foreign diests and guests.

Whilst climbing conditions and peaks may slightly different, the living conditions are like himalayan conditions, other than small towns and villages nearby. I.e. we spend most of the time on the mountains in tents (other than most guided climbs)

Although each mountain is different, generally the conditions in China can vary and the mountains can have rough weather. It can get very cold and windy in the west of China and the temperature can fluctuate. Having the right gear is essential.

Before we set out on any trip we ask and check each members gear and make a plan to fill in the missing oieces

Normally in big cities, we have established partner hotels that cater to foreign travelers. We will recommend these; in terms of towns, villages and areas nearby the mountain, we have established locations that cater to the climbing guests and conditions.

For all our climbs on mountains over 5000m, we will submit the application with the local mountaineering associations for your permits. On peaks from 6000m and above, there is a need for previous climbing experience. We will ask you to provide that before booking a climb
